Access panel for shower valve – recommendations?

Need to put an access panel behind the shower tiles for the mixing valve. Worried about moisture and mold. Should I get a plastic one with gasket or metal? Any brands/models that hold up in wet areas?

In wet zones I always go metal with powder coating – plastic can crack or let moisture sneak behind over time. Found a solid screw-in model that has a clean look and the door seals nicely when closed. No issues with condensation or mold after 18 months. This is the one I installed in two bathrooms:

Size 8×8 was enough for my valve. Just caulk the edges lightly after install.
